About the Brewer

"Springdale by Jack’s Abby was founded in 2016 as the experimental and barrel-aging arm of Jack’s Abby Brewing. With curiosity, creativity and the support of our talented production team, we’ve spent our first year crafting dozens of wild and barrel-fermented beers, as well as a line of traditionally fermented ales.

Ales, IPAs and barrel-aged beers make up the core of Springdale’s portfolio. Pearly, our country-style can-conditioned witbier is light, lively and expressive, while our breakfast stout Brigadeiro is packed with luscious flavors of coffee and chocolate. We also can our IPAs and suggest drinking them fresh; they’re packed with huge, expressive hop flavors from American and Australian hops. Our barrel-aged series, on the other hand, can be cellared indefinitely. This includes unfruited wild ales and beers fermented on a wide variety of fruit, including apricots (Apriculture) cherries (Kriek Mythology) and raspberries (Poive Raz)."

About the Brewer

"Over two decades ago, Kate and Gabe Rogers met. Since then, they have accumulated over 15 years of experience in the food and customer service industry. After owning and operating a successful homebrew supply store and a brewery, they are now working on their next project: Breakaway Beerworks.

In 2005 Kate and Gabe bought their first home. An interest in homebrewing was sparked, and Gabe started making beer on their kitchen stove in a 7-gallon lobster pot. He eventually invested in a larger, 15-gallon brew system that he operated from within their garage. Over the next 10 years, Gabe’s brewing career flourished. He owned and operated a successful homebrew supply shop, Yeastern Homebrew Supply, and medaled in various homebrew competitions including the Regionals. Kate and Gabe both became BJCP certified beer judges and went on to open their first brewery, Garrison City Beerworks on December 13th, 2014.

The excitement for Gabe’s signature take on IPAs and Pale Ales was contagious, and the “Haze Craze” swept through New Hampshire and surrounding states. He received the award of Best New Brewer in New Hampshire in 2015 from Rate Beer. This was the first time a New Hampshire brewer had received this award. To this day, six of Gabe’s recipes are on the Beer Advocate top 100 beers of New Hampshire.

After discovering and surviving an undiagnosed illness, Gabe is on the road to recovery. Together, Kate and Gabe are forming the building blocks that will become the foundation for their new brewery, Breakaway Beerworks! The brewery logo is that of a phoenix, representing Kate and Gabe’s metaphorical rise from the ashes and breaking away from the chains that have bound and prevented them from realizing their dream. The phoenix is reborn and evolves into a superior form of its previous self. Their first Double IPA “RISE” celebrates this process.

The promise to quality and consistency will begin at the award winning Great North Aleworks in Manchester, NH where Kate has been employed for the past year.  Kate and Gabe will be contract brewing 40 bbl batches and distributing 16 oz cans to local specialty beer stores and kegs to select bars and restaurants.  In time, the plan is to grow Breakaway Beerworks to the point where it can move into its own, independent facility.  With this renewed life and second chance, Kate and Gabe will continue to push style boundaries and brew beers that can be shared and enjoyed by all. They invite all to join them on their journey as they RISE, rebuild and take flight!"

About the Brewer:

"Knee Deep Brewing Co. is a family run independent Microbrewery that was born in the late Summer of 2010. When Knee Deep first started producing beer we started out “contract brewing” our beers at Mt. Tallac Brewing in beautiful Lake Tahoe. At first we only sold a few styles of beer (kegs only) within the Reno / Nevada market. We soon began to flourish much faster than anticipated, and thats when all the fun started!

In the first quarter of 2011, the company reached an agreement to lease the former Beermann’s Brewery in Lincoln, CA.  During the renovation and startup phase Knee Deep’s beers continued to be contract brewed in the Bay Area of California.  In May 2011, our first batch of beer was brewed in our Lincoln brewery.  Over time we phased out the contract brewing and eventually all our beers were brewed at our Lincoln facility.  At that time we had two UC Davis trained brewers operating 7 days a week. At first, our beers could be found throughout California, Arizona, Nevada, Ohio, and Idaho.  In 2012 we had started our “Loading Dock Friday Growler Sales”, where it was possible to purchase a growler of the freshest possible Knee Deep beer directly from the brewery (rain or shine.)  Growler sales were, as described, conducted at the loading dock, and man those are some amazing memories!

Knee Deep Brewing’s beers have received several awards; most recently and notably, our Lupulin River double IPA taking the Silver Medal in the Imperial IPA category at the 2017 Great American Beer Festival (you can view all our prestigious awards inside our taproom in Auburn.) Knee Deep Brewing Company has a rapidly growing reputation as we are known for our unique blends and creative outlook on brewing.  We take pride in our reputation and strive to continue brewing outstanding craft beers.

Fast forward to 2018, Knee Deep’s beers are now brewed in our 28,000 square foot facility in Auburn, CA. Our 15 barrel brew house has been replaced with a 40 barrel 4 vessel system. Our 15 barrel fermenters are no more and we now ferment our beers in 60, 90, and 120 barrel tanks. Our year round offerings now total 16 and we also produce multiple monthly special releases and seasonal beers. We also barrel age a limited quantity of specialty beers which are periodically released in our taproom. 22oz and 12oz bottles, cans, and kegs, can all be found filled with our wonderful liquid. “Loading Dock Fridays” are gone as well. Instead of standing in a back alley to purchase a growler of our beer, visitors can now purchase growlers, crowlers, bottles, and or cans in our beautiful tasting room (which by the way is larger than our previous Lincoln brewery.) Our tasting room offers an unobstructed view of brewery operations and guests can enjoy samples of our beer while watching us brew, filter, and or even packaging our products. Oh hey, I forgot to mention that our taproom is pet and kid friendly! Thats right, feel free to bring your little ones and furry ones along with you for the fun! Our brewmaster, Dean Roberts, has been with us for 5 years and is continuing our tradition of brewing only the finest craft beers.

We recently celebrated our 8th birthday and we are excited to announce that you can find our beers in 30 different states! Canada, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, and Singapore are also part of our distribution network with more to come by the end of 2018. The one thing that will not change at Knee Deep is the quality of our product. We continue to brew great beer and receive recognition and awards both locally and nationally.

Next year in 2019, we have plans to build out our production facility by adding more tanks, a new brew system, a second story event room, and even more that will be announced in the near future.

Thank you to everyone that supports our family brand and enjoys our tasty brews!

Cheers,

-Knee Deep Family"
