About the Brewer

"Allagash Brewing Company started in 1995, as a one-man operation in a small corner of a warehouse in Portland, Maine.

Founder Rob Tod had worked in a brewery setting before and recognized a void within the craft brewing movement. While both German and British styles had become prevalent throughout the U.S., the ever-creative Belgian styles were very difficult to find. Through his travels, Tod had sampled many of these unique beers and wanted to share these flavors and traditions with the American drinking public. He assembled a small 15-barrel brewhouse from used equipment and began his quest towards the production of traditional Belgian-style ales.

Rob sold his first batch of beer – the very first Allagash White – in the summer of 1995.  Since that time, Allagash Brewing Company has grown and expanded – now we’re available in 17 states and the District of Columbia.  But we’re still brewing beers on that brewhouse Rob welded together, still aging and bottling specialty beers in the warehouse where the first batches of White were brewed, and still striving to share our interpretations of Belgian-inspired beers."

Now On Tap: Stone I'm Peach Double IPA

Stone-Im-Peach-Double-IPA-Cans-min.jpg

We're not normally hug fans of fruit beers - but this one caught our eye. A Double IPA with peaches - can it be good? The answer is - yes. This complex brew has slight hints of peach on citrus notes - not overwhelmingly peach, but a pleasant addition, mellowing the hops a bit. Stop in and try this brew from Stone Brewing before it's gone!

Make sure to stay up-to-date with our tap list on our website or follow us on Untappd!

Brewer Notes

Who wants to kick fruit out of beer? Not us. When done right, adding orange or grapefruit or tangerine can contribute a deeper level of delicious complexity to the beer. In this case, peach was the perfect complement to enhance the substantial bill of hops in this double IPA. May its reign last more than a few terms.

Beer Specifications

Style: Tart Wit

About the Brewer

"Springdale by Jack’s Abby was founded in 2016 as the experimental and barrel-aging arm of Jack’s Abby Brewing. With curiosity, creativity and the support of our talented production team, we’ve spent our first year crafting dozens of wild and barrel-fermented beers, as well as a line of traditionally fermented ales.

Ales, IPAs and barrel-aged beers make up the core of Springdale’s portfolio. Pearly, our country-style can-conditioned witbier is light, lively and expressive, while our breakfast stout Brigadeiro is packed with luscious flavors of coffee and chocolate. We also can our IPAs and suggest drinking them fresh; they’re packed with huge, expressive hop flavors from American and Australian hops. Our barrel-aged series, on the other hand, can be cellared indefinitely. This includes unfruited wild ales and beers fermented on a wide variety of fruit, including apricots (Apriculture) cherries (Kriek Mythology) and raspberries (Poive Raz)."

About the Brewer

"Over two decades ago, Kate and Gabe Rogers met. Since then, they have accumulated over 15 years of experience in the food and customer service industry. After owning and operating a successful homebrew supply store and a brewery, they are now working on their next project: Breakaway Beerworks.

In 2005 Kate and Gabe bought their first home. An interest in homebrewing was sparked, and Gabe started making beer on their kitchen stove in a 7-gallon lobster pot. He eventually invested in a larger, 15-gallon brew system that he operated from within their garage. Over the next 10 years, Gabe’s brewing career flourished. He owned and operated a successful homebrew supply shop, Yeastern Homebrew Supply, and medaled in various homebrew competitions including the Regionals. Kate and Gabe both became BJCP certified beer judges and went on to open their first brewery, Garrison City Beerworks on December 13th, 2014.

The excitement for Gabe’s signature take on IPAs and Pale Ales was contagious, and the “Haze Craze” swept through New Hampshire and surrounding states. He received the award of Best New Brewer in New Hampshire in 2015 from Rate Beer. This was the first time a New Hampshire brewer had received this award. To this day, six of Gabe’s recipes are on the Beer Advocate top 100 beers of New Hampshire.

After discovering and surviving an undiagnosed illness, Gabe is on the road to recovery. Together, Kate and Gabe are forming the building blocks that will become the foundation for their new brewery, Breakaway Beerworks! The brewery logo is that of a phoenix, representing Kate and Gabe’s metaphorical rise from the ashes and breaking away from the chains that have bound and prevented them from realizing their dream. The phoenix is reborn and evolves into a superior form of its previous self. Their first Double IPA “RISE” celebrates this process.

The promise to quality and consistency will begin at the award winning Great North Aleworks in Manchester, NH where Kate has been employed for the past year.  Kate and Gabe will be contract brewing 40 bbl batches and distributing 16 oz cans to local specialty beer stores and kegs to select bars and restaurants.  In time, the plan is to grow Breakaway Beerworks to the point where it can move into its own, independent facility.  With this renewed life and second chance, Kate and Gabe will continue to push style boundaries and brew beers that can be shared and enjoyed by all. They invite all to join them on their journey as they RISE, rebuild and take flight!"
